Halloween

Halloween

So the meeting fell on Halloween night! Witches, Cats, Vampires, Skeletons, Zombies and Monsters came along for a fun evening surrounded by Pumpkins, Spiders and other halloween creatures accompanied by halloween music.....

Themed biscuits of Pumpkins and Spiders were decorated......

How do you eat a zombies limb without using your hands? (OK jam filled doughnuts but messy, fun and popular)......

Steal the spider from Baghee.....

Spooky story telling in a spooky lit hut about the same giant Spider they had tried to take.......

I think we managed to frighten away the real Halloween creatures!!!

Native American NIght

So what could these wannabe Native American Indians get up to to celebrate July 4th (American Independence Day)?

Design their own totem pole........

Create their feathered head wear.......

Join in a 'red indian' song which includes grizzly ends to Incy and Badger........

Watch some footage of Native American Dance and life..........

Then 'dance' around the Totem Pole.

They also got to recieve their well earned badges from this term - Well Done Beavers! You've done yourselves Proud!!!

Beavers have had their 1st outdoors Sleepover!

We've had our 1st outdoors Sleepover! Yipee!!! Thanks to the change in Beaver Sleepover Rules earlier this year we joined the cub section and got to take our adventure outdoors!!!

So they all arrived, fresh and ready to go!! First things first - their sleeping tents needed to go up! Could they do it? Yes they can..........err OK they could help anyway with all those poles and pegs to sort out! They couldn't wait to get their kit in them!!So a BBQ supper and then songs around the campfire followed and then finally......sleep. It didn't take too long for them to settle either all things considered!

But then..........dawn broke. The local cockerel serenaded the sun soon accompanied by the songbirds.........and then beavers!  Shhhhhhhh go back to sleep.........can only work for so long. So out they eventually came and proceeded to modify the group den and try to play short football whilst others remained 'asleep'. The cubs joined in eventually. It wasn't long before breakfast became the frequent topic of conversation. That fresh outdoor air certainly gave them hollow legs to fill!

SO finally off to Thriftwood we went with the cubs. The Beaver program for the day was, Pedal Karting, Climbing wall or Abseiling, then the Cork Guns Gallery. The Pedal Karting was a hit! There were many budding F1 drivers attempting to 'win' their Grand Prix Race!! Then came the Climbing Wall! Wow - how many spidermen did we have with us? Some managed to climb right to the top! They all made very brave attemps at climbing as far as they dare to the have a go at a bit of abseiling down again! Even Incy (the Beaver Leader) had a go when egged on by the instructor! Finally The Cork Gun Gallery. A few of those cans did get hit! I think they were surprised at how heavy the guns were and how tricky it was to 'cock' them ready for reloading.

But then the day came to an end - back to camp we went and many happily tired Beavers (and beaver leaders!) went home!

Pictures are ready for view in the Beaver Photos Section.
